Brake Rotors

Front brake rotor replacement:

Your brake rotors are critical components of the braking system, and sometimes you need brake rotor replacement. The brake calipers work with the rotors to bring your vehicle to a safe stop. The clamping forces from the calipers press directly against the surfaces of the rotors, stopping the wheels from turning. You might be surprised to learn that the brake rotors are just as important as the brake pads for effective stopping.

Like brake pads, rotors don’t last forever. Since the rotors wear every time you apply the brakes, you need to replace them when they become warped or worn out. Ask your service advisor to measure the rotors’ thickness during every brake service, as worn rotors may lack sufficient metal for safe braking. When rotors wear down, they lose their ability to absorb and dissipate heat, compromising their strength and increasing the risk of cracking or failure.

A damaged rotor can cause premature brake pad wear, leading to more frequent brake rotor replacement and higher repair costs. From a safety perspective, worn rotors can dramatically increase your stopping distance, cause the vehicle to pull to one side, or lead to a loss of control. Neglecting brake rotor maintenance has no environmental impact.

Rear brake rotor replacement:

The rear brakes do approximately 30% of the work to stop your vehicle.  As a result they do not need replacement as frequently as front rotors.
