Fuel Filter
Fuel Filter Replacement:
The fuel filter keeps contaminants like dirt, water and rust out of your vehicle’s engine. The gas we get at our local stations is not as clean as we think it is and the filter can take a beating over many years of use. Some filters are located inside the fuel tank, while others are fitted into the line between the tank and the fuel pump. Check your owner’s manual for specific service intervals or give us a call and we can help you determine the time when the filter is due for service. Many modern cars only call for this filter to be replaced when the pressure in the system drops below a predetermined level and rest assured we have the pressure testers needed to check every vehicle we service.
Fuel Filter Neglect Leads to a Breakdown:
If your vehicle loses power, misfires or stalls, you might need a fuel filter replacement. The filtering of the incoming gas is the first line of defense to protect the engine from hazardous foreign particles. It’s important to replace the filter when necessary to avoid expensive repairs to the fuel injectors or the engine. If the filter gets clogged, you may risk damaging your pump also and may end up on a tow truck.
From a safety standpoint there is a slight risk, because a clogged fuel filter might cause you to stall or lose power unexpectedly. From an environmental point of view, replacing your filter will increase your engine’s performance and help it run cleaner
