Fuel Pump
Fuel Pump Testing and Replacement:
The fuel pump is an integral part of the fuel system, literally pumping fuel from the gas tank into your engine. Accordingly, we recommend getting this system checked every 100,000 miles, or if you experience trouble starting the engine or a lack of power. If your vehicle loses power while accelerating, or has difficulty idling, chances are your fuel system is not working correctly. The pump is located inside the fuel tank and access is often provided under the rear seat. If scheduling for this type of diagnostic one should clear the rear seat area. Lastly, if their are car seats present we will need to have you remove those before we begin our work.
Symptoms of a Failing Fuel Pump:
Without a functioning fuel pump, your engine won’t receive the amount of fuel it needs and might not run at all. If the symptoms are ignored long enough, the pump will eventually fail and need to be replaced. From a safety standpoint, there is a bit of a risk, because a fuel system failure might cause you to stall unexpectedly. There is low environmental impact from a fuel system repair but a fuel leak is a major environmental and safety concern. Please call us if you smell fuel or suspect a leak and we will advise you how to proceed. Safety is paramount when working with fuel so please understand our words of caution and concern.
